Join us for a vibrant celebration of family and culture! Everyone is invited to AbSec’s esteemed annual NAIDOC Week celebration, the Family Fun Day, taking place at Marrickville PCYC on the 10th of July, 2024. This standout event in Sydney’s Inner West is a showcase of a day packed with activities for all ages—from thrilling rides and face painting to a variety of delicious food and lively live entertainment.
“The Family Fun Day is an essential part of fostering community bonds and celebrating the rich cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples,” said AbSec CEO John Leha.
“It’s a day where the community can engage with our vibrant cultural practices and values.”
“’Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud’ encapsulates the enduring spirit and resilience of our communities. This event is a heartfelt invitation to everyone to join in celebrating and learning about the profound cultural heritage that thrives amongst us.”
“While Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples constitute about 3% of the Australian population, our cultural footprint is vast and deeply significant. The Family Fun Day is a prime opportunity for all Australians to connect with us, understand our perspectives, and celebrate as one vibrant community.”
The event promises an enriching experience with over a thousand visitors enjoying everything from the interactive art and craft workshops to entertainment that caters to all—from toddlers to Elders.
“This event is free and aims to be as inclusive as possible,” Mr Leha emphasises.
“It’s about enjoyment, cultural exchange, and community—it’s genuinely a lot of fun for everyone involved.”
