DESCRIPTION:Strong mob\, strong peak | AbSec Bateman’s Bay Roadshow & CODA Community Gathering\nAbSec will be visiting Bateman’s Bay as part of our Community Roadshow\, bringing together community members\, ACCOs\, Local Aboriginal Land Councils and Aboriginal service providers for a morning of connection\, conversation and shared learning. \nThis roadshow is an opportunity to: \n\nProvide updates on advocacy priorities and sector work influenced by community feedback\nStrengthen relationships and accountability with local communities\nContinue yarning about what children\, families and communities need now and into the future.\n\nYour voices and stories are the basis for our work\, and that’s why we are coming to your community – to keep listen and learn. \nThis event will also provide an opportunity to engage with community as part of the Community Organisations Disaster Adaptation (CODA) Project\, which is exploring how we can strengthen disaster preparedness\, response and recovery across our communities. \nThe South Coast has experienced significant disasters in recent years\, and we know that community knowledge\, leadership and lived experience are essential in shaping stronger systems for the future. We want to hear from community about what worked\, what didn’t\, and what needs to change to better support Aboriginal communities before\, during and after disasters. \nThe CODA Projectis funded through the Disaster Ready Fund and is being delivered across several regions of NSW. \nAboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and Local Aboriginal Land Councils play a critical role in supporting communities during disasters\, yet their voices are not always embedded in disaster planning systems. Everybody from toddlers to Elders get into the community-building spirit of the event\, while enjoying a range of live performances. All ages can also get hands-on with art and craft workshops. \nIn 2026\, AbSec marks the 50th year of NAIDOC Week\, reflecting on five decades of resistance\, survival and culture. \nThe day has a vibrant carnival atmosphere that welcomes everyone.
