SUMMARY:Evidence to Action: System Gaps and Priorities Yarn-Up (Kempsey)
DESCRIPTION:Strong mob\, strong peak | AbSec Bateman’s Bay Roadshow & CODA Community GatheringAbSec will be visiting Lismore as part of our Community Roadshow\, bringing together community members\, ACCOs\, Local Aboriginal Land Councils and Aboriginal service providers for a morning of connection\, conversation and shared learning. This roadshow is an opportunity to: Provide updates on advocacy priorities and sector work influenced by community feedbackStrengthen relationships and accountability with local communitiesContinue yarning about what children\, families and communities need now and into the future.Your voices and stories are the basis for our work\, and that’s why we are coming to your community – to keep listen and learn. This event will also provide an opportunity to engage with community as part of the Community Organisations Disaster Adaptation (CODA) Project\, which is exploring how we can strengthen disaster preparedness\, response and recovery across our communities. The Northern Rivers has experienced significant disasters in recent years\, and we know that community knowledge\, leadership and lived experience are essential in shaping stronger systems for the future. We want to hear from community about what worked\, what didn’t\, and what needs to change to better support Aboriginal communities before\, during and after disasters. The CODA Projectis funded through the Disaster Ready Fund and is being delivered across several regions of NSW. Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and Local Aboriginal Land Councils play a critical role in supporting communities during disasters\, yet their voices are not always embedded in disaster planning systems. This project aims to ensure Aboriginal voices and lived experiences help shape future disaster planning and policy reform. Whether you are part of an organisation or a community member\, your voice and experience matter. Join us for a yarn\, share your insights\, and help shape stronger outcomes for our communities. \n \n \n \n Agenda9:30am: Acknowledgment of Country\, Introduction of AbSec and staff members in attendance 1st session – Know your rights  10:15am: Morning tea  10:30am: 2nd session – CODA Workshop 12:00pm: 3rd session – LDC  12:30pm: 4th session – State of the Sector  1:00pm: Lunch and networking Team in attendance from AbSecCarlee Maccoll – Project Officer Shiny Varghese – Policy and Advocacy Tanya Miles – Carers Support Bailey Barlow – Strong Families Our Way Dianne Potter – AbSec Learning and Development Centre  Dane Callaghan – Trainer / Assessor – Child\, Youth and Family Intervention- LDC
